Are you looking for a good seed to feed the birds? I have been exploring different types of seeds, and one of them that I find reliable and enjoyable for my back yard birds is a brand called Harvest Seed & Supply. The company has a variety of seeds for different birds and a year round blend, Birders Melody, is blended for year round bird feeding that works really well. You can purchase it on Chewy.com or Amazon.com and if you live in Massachusetts there is a local store called Ocean State Job Lot. They have at the Marshfield Store at the time of this blog
The seeds smell fresh, and they come in a very nice thick bag that lasts a long time. They have seeds blends for winter, for berry lovers, and for song birds and nut lovers. They also have Seed Cakes which I just found out about and haven't tried yet.
I put down seeds in a hanging flat feeder and also smaller seed now in a Tube feeder.
I also still put down seed on the ground because The Mourning Doves love eating from the grass. In the winter I have also provided the suet. This year I hope to attract the Baltimore Orioles again, and we know that they love oranges, and sometimes jelly or fruit.
What Birds will you be looking to attract this year? Hummingbirds, finches, songbirds, ?
